About Base58 Encode / Decode
Encode text to Base58 (Bitcoin alphabet) or decode Base58 back to text.
Base58 Encode / Decode maps text onto the Bitcoin alphabet, a 58 character set that deliberately drops the digit zero, capital letter O, capital letter I and lower case l so that strings never get misread in printed keys, QR codes or hand copied wallet addresses. Encode a phrase and the tool returns the Base58 string with its length, then paste a string back and it restores the original text immediately. The decoder flags characters that belong to no valid alphabet rather than guessing, and you can choose between the Bitcoin, Ripple or Flickr variants when a particular platform demands one. Everything is computed inside the page, ideal for checking vanity addresses, shortening identifiers, or preparing data for systems that reject punctuation. One click copies the result, and a second panel shows the same payload in hexadecimal so you can compare encodings side by side.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which characters does the Base58 alphabet exclude and why?
It removes the digit zero, capital O, capital I and lowercase l because they look like the letter O, the number one and each other in most fonts. Dropping them makes wallet addresses and printed keys far harder to mistype. The tradeoff is that Base58 encodes slightly fewer bits per character than Base64, so output is a little longer for the same input.
Is Base58 Encode / Decode free to use?
Yes. Base58 Encode / Decode is completely free with unlimited use — no account, download or payment required.
Is my data uploaded to a server?
No. Base58 Encode / Decode runs entirely in your browser. Your inputs are never sent to our servers or stored anywhere.
Does Base58 Encode / Decode work on mobile?
Yes. The interface is fully responsive and works in any modern browser on Android, iPhone, tablets and desktops.
